India Captain Virat Kholi hit a century to guide his side to a 3 wicket win against England in the first One Day International in Pune on Sunday.
India chased 351 score as England hit their highest ever ODI total in total, 122 runs from 105 ball and 120 runs from 76 balls by Kholi and Kedar Jadhav respectively were enough to hand over the number one rank cricket team a 1-0 win.
“The moment he came to the crease, Jadhav started hitting the ball really well,” said Kohli.
“I said, ‘if we get to 150 here, they will press the panic button – watch’.”
Khohli’s hundred took him level with Sachin Tendulkar for number of hundreds scored batting second in ODIs. Of the six men with 10 or more, only Kohli has played fewer than 100 innings.
India will take their 1-0 ODI lead to the Barabati Stadium at 10:00 (South African Time).
