The Chill Boys out to spoil Sundowns party

Chippa United and Mamelodi Sundowns will square off in an Absa Premiership game at the Sisa Dukashe Stadium in East London on Tuesday, Kick-off is at 7:30pm.

The Chill Boys edged out Baroka FC 2-1 in their previous league game which was played at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium last week.

Thamsanqa Sangweni levelled matters for the Chilly Boys, before Rhulani Manzini grabbed a late winner for the home side in stoppage time.

This was United’s third victory in their last five matches – having lost the other two games. Before facing Baroka, they had lost 1-0 to Ajax Cape Town away.

United are placed ninth on the league standings with 19 points from 15 matches. They are just a point behind eighth-placed Maritzburg United, who have played 17 games.

Meanwhile, Sundowns are coming off a commanding 6-0 victory over Pirates in league encounter which was played at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Saturday.

Thapelo Morena and Percy Tau both grabbed braces, while Ricardo Nascimento and Themba Zwane also netted for the Brazilians.

The emphatic victory extended the Tshwane giants’ winning run to four league games – having kept three clean sheets in the process.

Sundowns are placed fifth on the league standings with 25 points 11 matches matches. They are six points behind log leaders Cape Town City, who have played 17 games.

The Brazilians are set to welcome back Wayne Arendse, who missed the game against Pirates. The centre back was suspended.

Themba Zwane has now scored in two consecutive league matches for Pitso Mosimane’s side. The midfielder will be keen to continue his good form against United.
