Ntsikelelo Nyauza opened the scoring flood gates in the second minute of the match to give the visitors a 1-0 lead after the Sundowns defence failed to clear a setpeice inside the box.

Percy Tau, Themba Zwane and Sibusiso Vilakazi had perfect chances to equalize for Sundowns within the first 15 munites but denied by but Jackson Mabokgwane who produced brilliant saves to keep the ‘Sea Robbers’ in-charge.

The Brazilians were made to pay for their missed chances in the 18th minute when Mpho Makola fired home to make it 2:0 for ‘the Buccaneers’ from inches outside the box after Motjeka Madisha committed a defensive fatal error with a sloppy pass at the back.

Sundowns pulled one back just before the half-time break with Percy Tau to make it 2:1 but it was Pirates who came much better in the second half and the game was buried with Luvuyo Memela slaughtering it home to make it 3-1 to the Buccaneers just eight minutes before time.

The three fat points will take Orlando Pirates to the third place on the log, just five points belows the log-leaders Mamelodi Sundowns.
