Meet the new Mamelodi Sundowns Head of Technical, Erik Hamrén

Like Kaizer Chiefs and Chippa United, the Tshwane giants Mamelodi Sundowns have also hired a Technical Advisor “Head of Technical” to assist Head Coach Pitso Mosimane and Trott Moloto with technical matters and talent acquisition.

Following weeks of speculations and gossips, Mamelodi Sundowns have confirmed Erik Hamrén as their new Head of Technical awaiting work permit and clearance before being unveiled at the club.

Erik Hamrén brings to Sundowns a plenty of experience, value and the expertise having been involved in the European Leagues managerial positions for more than 30-years.

Mr Hamrén has also been involved in the international football having guided Swedish national side to Euro more than ones.

Who is Erik Hamrén:

Erik Anders Hamrén, Age 60, is the former Swedish national football team coach. Hamrén qualified Sweden for Euro 2012 and Euro 2016, before stepping down as the manager of Sweden.

Hamrén coached Norwegian giants Rosenborg BK to league championship in his first full season with the club. His previous job was as manager of the Danish Superliga side Aalborg BK, where he guided the team to a 5th-place finish in the 2005–06 season, a 3rd place in the 2006–07 season, and to the championship in the 2007–08 season.

His personal achievements include:

  • Danish Football Manager of the Year: 2008
  • Norwegian Football Manager of the Year: 2009
