Bidvest Wits take on wounded Pirates at Orlando

Orlando Pirates welcome Bidvest Wits as they seek redemption following the 6-0 thrashing by league champions Mamelodi Sundowns

BidVest Wits coach Gavin Hunt expects a reaction from Orlando Pirates when the two teams clash in a crunch Absa Premiership clash

The Buccaneers face an uphill battle in their quest for redemption when they welcome the PSL title-chasing the Clever Boys to the Orlando Stadium on Wednesday.

Placed in an unusual tenth position, Bucs need to topple the Students for two reasons: redemption and to move back into the top eight.

The Clever Boys won all three of their last matches in all competitions against Bucs.

BidVest Wits coach Gavin Hunt expects a reaction from Orlando Pirates when the two teams clash in a crunch Absa Premiership clash in Orlando on Wednesday.

Pirates were humbled 6-0 by Sundowns last Saturday, a record defeat for the Soweto giants.

And Hunt believes they will be champing at the bit to make amends against a Wits side gunning for the league title this season.

“We are expecting a very tough game on Wednesday against Pirates. They will certainly come out much stronger and determined to protect their pride,” Hunt is quoted on his club’s website.

Pirates were also beaten 6-1 by SuperSport United earlier this season, leading to the resignation of Coach Muhsin Ertugral, and after that defeat went on a three-game winning run as the players responded in fine fashion.
