‘Kings of Africa’ to parade the CAF Champions League trophy

Mamelodi Sundowns “The King of Africa” will on Monday next week parade the CAF Champions League trophy across the street of Tshwane.

The Club President Patrice Motsepe made an announcement today while addressing fans and citizens who flocked to the OR Tambo International Airport to give a warm welcome to the Mamelodi Sundowns Players and staff after winning the Champions League.

Motsepe, who financed a group of the club supporters’ trip to Alexandria for the second leg on Sunday, has assured Masandwana faithful that the club will hold huge celebrations for their maiden African crown next Monday.

Sundowns won the title despite going down 1-0 to Zamalek Football Club of Egypt in the match last night. “The Brazilians”, as they are famously known, won the tie 3-1 on aggregate after they had beaten Zamalek 3-0 in the first leg at home in Pretoria last week.

Sundowns has joined another South African outfit, Orlando Pirates who won Africa’s top club championship in 1995 to earn the country the first star of this competition.
