Orlando Pirates “Buccaneers” gears up the hunt for the head coach to replace Muhsin Ertugral as poor results pours in.
The race to Orlando Pirates head coach post is heating up with Dutch legend Ruud Gullit, as well as his counterpart from Belgium Vincenzo Scifo are some of the European coaches that have been linked with the club.
Pirates parted ways with former head coach Muhsin Ertugral after he resigned via an email following the club’s shock 6-1 defeat to SuperSport United last month.
Augusto Palacios has been the interim boss since the beginning of November, following the sudden resignation of Ertugral and, though he continues to attend to his development duties
It is the third spell that the Peruvian-born tactician has take in a stand-in capacity and, how long he stays on is dependent on whether club boss Irvin Khoza has found a permanent replacement.
Khoza initially hinted that ‘Professor’ will stay on until the end of the year, but that is not cast in stone as positive results will naturally motivate the need for him to remain in charge.
The club has been yet to give out the details of a potential next coach for the team, Palacios remains in charge as an interim coach.
Palacios is expected to be in charge of the team until at least January, while the club is expected to decide on a new head coach later in the season
