Sundowns ease past Polokwane City in Telkom Knockout

Mamelodi Sundowns showed character once again by beating a well rested Polokwane City in a Telkom Knockout match played at Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium on Thurday  night.

“Bafana Ba Style” started the game without the rampant CBD formation with Khama Billiat and Keagan Dolly rested after and ahead of a tense schedule.

The game ended goalless in the first half with the host dominating ball possession and number of chances created.

Sibusiso Vilakazi came close twice but were later book for diving inside Polokwane City box.

The game became live after the introduction of Khama Billiat in the second half which opened the opportunities for Mamelodi Sundowns. Captain Hlompho Kekana opened the scoring for “the Champs” and were later joined by Themba Zwane to finish the game for the host.

Mamelodi Sundowns will face Supersport United for the last eight in Telkom Knockout.
